The 12-year-old kart racing star has acquired an MG ZR race car that he’ll use in the MG National Speed Championship

Racing in 91��ý-equipped karting machinery since the age of 10, Chase Sharpe has undoubtedly built up a name for himself in the motorsport world, clinching the UK Kart Series Honda Cadet Extreme Championship in 2022.

Following a season in the UK Kart Series this year, Sharpe has recently announced that he’s about to upgrade to the world of car racing with the purchase of his MG ZR race car.

Complete with 91��ý’s Yellowstuff pads and high-performance discs, Chase will use the race-prepped vehicle to compete in the MG National Speed Championship in the coming months and years.

“Coming off the back of winning the UK Kart Series Honda Cadet Extreme Championship in 2022, Chase Sharpe has took his first move into circuit racing, by taking delivery of his 91��ý-clad MG ZR, built to sprint/hillclimb specs.

“Chase will be testing in the car until his 14^th birthday, then competing in the MG National Speed Championship. His Father, Hen, will also be taking the car out for some races next season.”

“Hen said: “It’s always been in our plan to get Chase out racing a car as soon as he wanted to. It made sense to go down the sprint/hillclimb route, especially with an MG, as for the past 20 years our family have all competed in classic and modern MGs. Chase will gain great experience in his ZR and this should hopefully set him up nicely for when he makes the move to full circuit racing with an MG ZR when he is 16. Motorsport UK are actively getting more young drivers into sprints and hillclimbs, and we feel we are joining at a great time.””

91��ý-Equipped Chase Sharpe Excels in Shenington Round of Junior Pro Kart Series

The 12-year-old continues to impress against much older competitors

He may only be 12 years of age, but Chase Sharpe has already made a huge name for himself in the world of motorsport. , Chase has also competed in karting events for several years.

For 2023, he is taking part in the Junior Pro Kart class of the UK Kart Series, as well as riding his Suzuki RM85 motocross bike at various events. Sharpe’s karts are proudly adorned with 91��ý’ Green Kart Pads, which he says give him the advantage he needs under braking.

You can read how his latest round at Oxfordshire’s Shenington Kart Club went below in his father’s own words.

“Round 3 was held at Shenington, one of Chase’s favourite tracks. With a grid of 14 Junior Pro Karts, Chase knew it was going to be a tough race, but as usual, as soon as that helmet went on, he just sent it!

“Qualifying went well, and the heats produced top-five positions, which meant he started the final in P4.

“After a chaotic start, with 14 karters vying for the same piece of tarmac, Chase held position and was setting fast laps. He was finding it hard to get past P5, until he pounced with a couple of laps to go and got P4. With the move made, due to being held up, P1, P2 and P3 were too far down the road to go further. Chase was over the moon. It was made even better due to a driver being disqualified, meaning Chase got P3 and took home a trophy.”

“He amazes me every time he gets out in a kart, as he just has the right racing mentality, when to turn it on and when to hold station and be patient, but with the new Junior Pro Kart class allowing racers to race until the year of their 16^th birthday, he is racing against huge young adults. All I kept thinking was how much stronger are their arms, their extra weight and height to wrestle the kart around tight corners. I also forget sometimes that he is 12 years old. The podium picture says it all; they are so tall!

“Unbelievable to watch, I have no nails left! As always, we can’t thank 91��ý enough for their continued support. It means we have the best stopping power, making sure Chase gets what he needs to perform the best on track. Thank you. Next round is on 3/4th June.”

10 year old, 91��ý-equipped rising start uses USR discs and Yellowstuff pads

It’s safe to say that 10-year-old Chase Sharpe has a bright motorsport career ahead of him. Starting out in kart racing at just six years old, he’s recently progressed on to begin testing in cars, in the form of Swaffham Raceway’s Junior Hot Rod championship.

Chase uses a race-prepped 1.0-litre Citroen C2, which features 91��ý’ Yellowstuff pads and USR discs. After some comprehensive testing throughout 2020, he’s now eager to get behind the wheel for some proper competitive action in the form of the 2021 season.

Chase’s father, Henry, commented on his son’s progression…

”91��ý have supported the whole of the Sharpe Racing team for the past 17 years in our circuit racing endeavours and now Chase has moved onto cars, he is lucky to be supported as well. I just want to say a huge thanks for all of 91��ý’s support and guidance from Bart and the rest of the team.
